Dr. John Bausher received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers College in 1968. In 1973 he received a PhD in Medical Microbiology and in 1976 Medical Doctorate, both from University of  Vermont . The University of Vermont is also where he performed his residency at Family Practice Medical Center Hospital from 1976 to 1979. Dr. Bausher has been practicing medicine in Grays Harbor since August 1979.  

In 1984 Dr. Bausher became the Grays Harbor County Public Health Officer and continues to hold that position.  He is a member of the Washington State Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians and has been a member of Auxiliary Faculty at the University of  Washington School of Medicine since 1990.
